Top Five Reasons for Choosing Us

1. Trust

We're a nonprofit, a 501 (c)(3), a status that distinguishes us in communication health care. Compared to our competitors in the speech and hearing marketplace, our worldview is different: We focus on you, not quarterly profits.

Make no mistake, we’re an efficient, modern, health-care organization that earns its way. But as a 501 (c)(3), we're structured to concentrate on you, our mission since 1978.

When you choose Sertoma Speech & Hearing Centers, the money you invest in professional services is recycled right back into our operations — not a single penny goes to sales commissions or bonuses. We use our income for advanced training, new technologies, and to help others less fortunate get the services they need to live productive, satisfying lives.

The same goes for any gifts of money we receive, grants, and income from events we host to underwrite our mission  — returned to operations to help people communicate better.

As you'll learn below, our nonprofit status creates additional patient benefits ensuring your peace of mind.

2. Skill

Our board certified audiologists and speech-language pathologists take a 360° perspective of their patients (not a single point of view) to fully understand them and customize their treatments. They work as a team too because clinical teams create better results for patients.

If you're shopping for professional speech or hearing services, be sure to compare the credentials and experience of our team of clinicians with other candidates you're considering. For example, in Illinois you do not need to be an audiologist to dispense hearing aids.

But only licensed audiologists have the clinical skills to perform comprehensive evaluations of hearing. Hearing evaluations go far beyond hearing screenings in their diagnostic scope and are vital in determining the most effective treatment for each person's hearing loss.

At Sertoma Speech & Hearing Centers, only licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologist comprise our clinical team.

3. Choice

Because we partner with the top digital, hearing-instrument designers (Oticon, Widex, Phonak, ReSound, Siemens, Starkey) we offer you choice.

Why is choice important? It ensures that you get the right hearing-instrument match for your hearing challenges.

In comparison, we're not a manufacturer's hearing-aid store that offers only one brand, substantially risking that you'll get the precise hearing technology you need. The marketing hype may sound good, but the fact is no single brand of hearing instruments provides a universal solution. Don't be fooled, choice is vital.

We also partner with the finest suppliers of ear molds (Westone, Microsonic, Etymotic) and other essential technologies (PowerOne, Dry & Store, Miracell), further ensuring your comfort and hearing performance.

4. No deceptive come-ons

You won't run into any advertisements from us exclaiming, Wanted: 30 people with hearing loss to evaluate new digital hearing aids! If you’re in your 60s, you get these come-ons every week in the mail.

We take another approach: We respect you. You’re welcome to try our digital-hearing systems any time you want.

And you'll never experience bate-and-switch with us either, a sales technique that has sullied the reputation of the for-profit hearing market. If you have a hearing loss that needs treating (not all do), your audiologist will discuss all your options with you to find the best solution that fits your budget.

5. Value
We offer you a value package that is unmatched by competitors.

  • Early consultation so we get to know each other.
  • Team of board certified audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
  • Clinical diagnosis and discussion of all treatment options.
  • Counseling and support for individuals and families.

  • Product-and-service pricing to fit your budget.

This combination of benefits defines value for us. We offer it every day to all our patients, no exceptions.
